There is a passage from the Gospel according to Matthew (6.5 -6.6) that says:
When you pray, do not imitate the hypocrites who love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of squares, may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door, pray to thy Father in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
I believe that the conversion to a religion other than what is a deep, intimate, sometimes painful, no matter what religion to which we convert. And so it is natural to expect an aura of respectful silence around this time, that does not mean hiding the fact, but even give it a value inappropriate.
happens, however, that if the "convert" is an Egyptian Muslim known for his position criticism of Islam and to be Deputy Director of an Italian newspaper, because it assumes a special significance, amplified by the fact that the conversion occurs in the most important night for Christians (Easter Vigil), for work of the most important representative of the Church Catholic (the Pope) at the most important international media spotlight.
is not a regular occurrence and it makes me smile that says certain press that Allam is a public figure and that he had himself baptized in a suburban parish, sooner or later they would still have come to know.

We are not stupid: it is one thing to learn is one thing to build an event media, who knows how to challenge and reprimand. Commenting
baptism given to Magdi Allam and other catechumens, Father Federico Lombardi, director of the Vatican press office, said that "for the Catholic Church every person who asks to receive Baptism after a deep personal search, a choice fully free and adequate preparation, has the right to receive it. For its part, the Holy Father administers Baptism during the Easter liturgy to the catechumens that were presented, without a 'difference of people', that is, considering all equally important before God's love and welcome in the Church community .

Explanation impeccable! Just do not ask how many are "presented" and those who are excluded from the Pope's Baptism
Please find me someone (a journalist or religious) with low intelligence, who is willing to admit that an anonymous catechumens and baptized Magdi Allam not is the same thing and that was not a coincidence!
missing is that the Church (which in spite of everything and everyone is still my church) make surveys on the percentage of new converts after the effect Allam ...
